Solo-ed Shasta on the "Flower Moon"...left Berkeley at 7:30 pm, go to the trailhead at 12 am, started hiking at 12:30 am. Summitted around 6:30. Skiied really poopy snow down to Horse Camp, turned back around at 7:30 and summitted #2 around 1:30 pm...great corn on the second descent.
Really stable snowpack, really hot day...ate 1/2 a foot long sandwich, 20 packets of PowerShot, and 170 oz. of water. Stopped in Redding on the way back for a BBQ at Timmy's new pad.
Had to do it 2x cuz I missed it last year... Guessing I got 13'000 ft + of vert...
Start out with some panos...this is the top of the red banks...at first light.
One more of the sunrise at the top of the red banks.
Summit block...summit #1.
On my way down...the snow was pretty crappy, so took my time.
On the second descent took the "Left of Heart" variation.
Shadow of Shasta at sunrise.
View from Helen Lake on my second time up.
Flower moon in full effect.
Moon setting in the trinity alps...you could see Mt. Thompson, Mt. Gibson, and the rest of the alps clearly.
Misery Hill...not too miserable if you do it in one push.
