Peter Grubb Hut (Nov 28, 2008) : Our 5th? annual post-t-day hut trip. No snow :(... BUT loads of fun. Spent the weekend with Sara, Rob, Jiselle, Julie, Kate, Win, Alex, Ann, Kimbo, Messy, Funk, Alexis, Mi-suk, and I... and Mingus, Nickel, Sushot?, and Jerry. Played: chess, liar's dice, cacho, a**hole, golf, nails, smash-a-can, kick the can, celebrity, mafia, the drawing game... and probably some more. We also hiked up Basin Peak, Castle Peak, and flew a kite, tossed the bee, and ate some great food.

Trinity Alps w/7 Alpine Crew (Oct 25, 2008) : Up to Stoddard Lake from E. Fork of Coffee Creek with Marian, Kevin, Erika, Kimbo, and the doggies (Mingie, Oscar, and Bugsy). Beautiful spot, great hike, didn't see a single soul... not counting Wingman. RED TAPE: Pick up permits at Weaverville Ranger Station (wilderness, camp fire... for FREE). Grouse Lake w.Kimbo, Julie, Kev, Hoeft, Elena, Alia, Mingus, and Jerry (June 28, 2008) : Backpacking in the Desolations. Drove up early Sat morning... got a permit, and hiked into Grouse Lake from Wrights Lake in the Desolation Wilderness Area. Awesome hike, nice lakes (went to Grouse, Hemlock, and Smith), good fishin (caught a few Brookies), great food (Hash Browns, Jambalaya, Bacon)... and the coors light even tasted good up there. Peter Grubb Ski Hut (Nov 25, 2006) - Journal : Up to Peter Grubb Hut, below Castle Peak for our Third annual Thanxgiving weekend chill-out. (year 1 - Ludlow, year 2 - New Bradley) Some pics from Ludlow on Earth Day of '06 http://telek.smugmug.com/gallery/1408632 The crew: Don, Rebecca, Erin, Susie, Funk, Katarina, Aleitha, Messy, Kim and I. It's a relatively easy hike...not so straight forward if you miss the first turn when you are hiking in at night...ask Funk and Katarina about that one. Solar Powered...like New Bradley Hut, which rocks. And bring a propane canister for the dual burner coleman stove.

4th annual? Post Turkey Peter Grubb Hut (Nov 23, 2007) : Tramped on up to Peter Grubb for a nice post-Thanxgiving break joined by Marian, Kevin, Erich, Mary Lynn, Julie, Kimbo, and a bunch of doggies (Oscar, Bugsy, Jerry, and Mingus). Highlights included: Kimbo going on a game binge, finishing off all of our booze, three simultaneous games of scrabble, the view from the top of Castle Peak, the full moon, eating and making desserts (left over cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake, flan), having a record number of dogs at the cabin (4), and Mingus smearing his face in horse poo (...not a word according to scrabble).

Lost Coast (Nov 1, 2007) : Solo backpacking trip with Mingus... Hiked 25+ miles with a 18 mile bike shuttle back to the car (Mingus didn't like that part). Amazing views, sunsets, sunrise, and great weather (esp. for the lost coast)... Recommendations: Bring some ankle gaiters (for the sand), bring a mtn bike for the shuttle, leave yourself plenty of time (it takes longer to get there than you think), bear canisters are a MUST... look into abalone diving, surfing, or sea kayaking up yonder. http://www.adventuresportsjournal.com/html/Articles/22/22_lostcoast.html http://www.nationalgeographic.com/adventure/surfing/california-lost-coast-adventure-guide.html For anyone heading up to the Redwoods area... Mokelumne Wilderness (Aug 11, 2006)- JOURNAL : Headed in the Mokelumne Wilderness...gotta say it was just as crowded as the Desolations. They changed the rules a few years back, and you can only camp at designated sites, so make your reservations early...or act like you didn't know. Ludlow Hut (Apr 22-Earth Day, 2006) -Journal : Ludlow hut excursion. Timmy and I met up with Kevin, Kimbo, Sara, Rob, Mingus, and Nickel bag of Funk. Had a great tour around the lake as we decided to drive around the lake for no reason. Rained a little, people got injured, fire alarms went off, groins were pulled, blisters were festering... all in all a sucessful trip.

Ludlow Hut (Apr 22, 2006) : A visit to the William Ludlow Hut with Timmy, Kevin, Kimbo, Sara, Rob, Mingus, and Nickel. After a long drive around the lake, we finally got to the trailhead. Although the weather wasn't cooperating, the 5 bottles of wine helped set the smoke alarm off, and debauchery ensued... Anyway, we had a blast...
